The government may announce another relief package before Diwali. Finance Minister Sitharaman will hold a press conference at 12:30 pm today. Its impact is visible on the market on Thursday, especially on the banking sector. The BSE Sensex is trading down 310.54 points at 43,283.13 and the Nifty is down 80.90 points at 12,668.25. Banking shares are leading the market decline.

                    

State-owned Coal India shares in the Nifty are trading below 2%. SBI, Kotak Bank, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank are also down over 2-2 per cent. While Shree Cement's stock is trading up 2%. Shares of Sun Pharma, ITC, Eicher Motor and Grasim are trading at 1-1 per cent. The Sensex opened 301.78 points down at 43,291.89 and the Nifty opened 47 points down at 12,702.15.

The European market also saw a boom yesterday. The UK's FTSE index was up 1.35% at 6,382.10. France's CAC index gained 0.48% to close at 5,445.21. Germany's DAX index also closed up 0.40% at 13,216.20 on Wednesday.
